EAA AirVenture Oshkosh!!!

Post by chicagorandy »

It's only about a month till the floodgates open at AirVenture on Monday July 23 and run till the following Sunday the 29th.

Me? I'm a volunteer tram conductor (those John Deere tractor pulled people carts) and I'll actually be there the Saturday before, on the job at the back of the tram/shuttle through closing day.

Like they say, if it's aviation related, it WILL be at Oshkosh.

So if you're on a tram and the old guy in the back with the microphone looks like Wilford Brimley and is telling corny jokes? Look at the nametag - if it says RANDY, be sure to say howdy.

It really IS the greatest show on earth and filling the skies. Hope to see you all there.

I will be there most of the week with the Taylorcraft parked in the antique section, if all goes as planned.

Color me envious. Paul Millner, one of the Cardinal Flyers Online founders who keeps his 177RG (N177SD) in the t-hangar next to mine at OAK, is en route OSH.

Randy, thanks for the link and the opportunity to "take a walk" down memory lane! I was in KOSH 5/20/17 - 06/10/17 and had great time. Have fun. Oh - and don't forget the "CAUTION - WAKE TURBULENCE" sign on the tail of your tram!

My buddies left this morning. I'm stuck at home, still recovering from shoulder surgery.

Heal quickly, Andy. Meanwhile, you're better off on the ground. (Don't forget your physical therapy.)

I can confirm that it was a mad house. I was lucky! After making one circle I had my spacing right made a good wing rock, and the controller sent me to the airport.
