TL Ultralight apparently signed some kind of deal with Iraq for delivery of “a large number of our aircraft to Iraq.”.
Wonder what sort of deal , some kind of basic flight Air Force cadet training ?

Re: Stings with rockets .
Probably for use as a light ground attack aircraft
Re: Stings with rockets .
Hmm...where does it say anything about rockets? I'm guessing it's for military primary training.
Though firing rockets from an LSA would be pretty darned fun!

Not as much fun as firing rockets at an LSA!MrMorden wrote:Though firing rockets from an LSA would be pretty darned fun!
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.

Until one hangs up inside the pod. That would be one wild ride. Those rocket motors only burn for a few seconds though.MrMorden wrote:. . . Though firing rockets from an LSA would be pretty darned fun!

I'd suggest a minigun instead, but you've told me how you feel about that.Wm.Ince wrote:Until one hangs up inside the pod. That would be one wild ride. Those rocket motors only burn for a few seconds though.MrMorden wrote:. . . Though firing rockets from an LSA would be pretty darned fun!

Re: Stings with rockets .
At 1320# you will need helium filled rockets
But primary training is the likely use then the surviving class members would move up to a jet trainer.

Stings are such docile planes that as long as you can manage to get into one without getting injured on the way , the rest is nice, safe and easy ...Jim Hardin wrote:At 1320# you will need helium filled rockets

It's been done before....
Bazzoka armed L-4
Although the MFI-9 has a max speed a couple mph too high for LSA, the gross is only about 1250lbs.

A couple of the photos show the group inspecting the engine installation and seating in the new Stream model. That is a tandem seater with retractable landing gear, which looks alot like it's purpose built as a military trainer. Put a couple of hard points in the wing structure and you've got a relatively inexpensive ground attack aircraft.

Hmm .. not sure. It seems like I could shoot down a plane like that with a Glock
Btw. TL Ultralight imho tends to make very good looking planes but ...the new Stream, I don't know ,it seems rather ugly.

All joking aside, I highly doubt these are even for the IQAF. They have their primary trainer in the Lasta 95 already. This looks more like the start of a GA presence in Iraq.
