So good ole Chuck wants the NTSB to take a close look at why there have been so many crashes in NY over the past year or so. I suppose the explanation "sh*t happens" just won't cut it with this guy. He wants to see if there is a "pattern". I caught his bable on the local news and he mentioned winds. Yeah, there are winds what do you expect to do about them. What concerns me is are they going to find crashes caused by equipment issues and then look to mandate more frequent inspections.

Senator Chuck Schumer is a menace

Good thing he doesn't want to look into other accidents. He would want to out law bicycles since people get hurt on them every day.

If it is winds he can help by stopping his jaws from flapping.rcpilot wrote:So good ole Chuck wants the NTSB to take a close look at why there have been so many crashes in NY over the past year or so. For Tim Taylor, my comment is not a left or right thing it applies equally to all politicians.
Re: Senator Chuck Schumer is a menace
Here's a song I wrote:
Give me security, or give me death
Keep me safe until my last breath
In a cell, or in a well, Keep me safe and never tell
Keep me safe, or take my life
Protect me from my fear of life.
In my cell, or in my well, in my own manufactured hell.
Build me a wall so great and tall
To keep them out and hide us all,
If this must be to my life to save
I might as well be in my grave.
Not exactly Pete Seeger, but you get my point.
Re: Senator Chuck Schumer is a menace
Remember that the good Senator is playing to his constituent base (just as any elected official can be expected to do). I predict nothing will come of this, and then he can tell the voters he tried his best (and blame the other party).

Chucky is a media whore.
I think if you put up a camera, he would stand in front of it and starve to death, waiting for someone to interview him.

I think you just defined "politician."

Re: Senator Chuck Schumer is a menace
Just like any good politician he is playing to his base. You are talking about New York. The folks there are paranoid about objects falling from the sky (with good reason), 9/11, flight 587, US Airways 1549, UA 826 · TWA 266 mid-air . Large metal objects falling from the sky in the city is on their minds. To them this sounds prudent, even a good idea. Same ideas that have lead to the controversy at SMO. People look up and see something they don't fully understand and to them it's loud, scary, polluting the air and is simply an accident waiting for a place to happen (see Arion Lightning crash at VNY not too long ago). I'm not saying its necessarily rational to us in the aviation community, and I'm not condoning an "investigation."
They say that all politics are local, that's spot on. In Alaska General aviation is a way of life, literally a lifeline. In New York it is linked to one of the greatest tragic events in modem history. Both are rational thoughts based on perception and life experience of the people involved.
