This is how it looked, April 9th, after we finally got some snow. But the "drought needle" barely budged!

That was great, Rich! Thanks for posting.
What was that low fuel pressure alarm about?

It takes a lot to get me to make it all the way through a 7 minute flying video.
But that sucked me in - good job!

Ah, yes, sometimes when I go to steep, full-power climb when I already have speed, the fuel pressure falls a little low--and just has to be temporarily boosted with the auxiliary pump.

I've noticed sometimes with my RV-12 that I occasionally get low fuel-pressure. Never had an alert from Skyview but it does drop towards the 2.2 psi minimum, especially on take-off which is ironically disturbing at times. Quickly goes back to normal as you throttle back in climb.drseti wrote:That was great, Rich! Thanks for posting.

The RV-12's electric pump is wired 'on' all the time to back up the engine driven pump. Kind of annoying when you put the master on prior to start, especially without headset on.
Apparently there were some incidents where pilots forgot to switch the aux pump on (t/o and landing for example) so Vans's wired it 'always on'.
I've read a couple places on the VAF site that the lower fuel pressure may be a product of high fuel flow situations. Wasn't Rich climbing in the video when he got the warning light?
Not sure which engine Rich has, I'm assuming the 912ULS like me.
Re: Another "How Bad Can it Get?" California Drought Video
Yes, I have the 912ULS and it was "peddle-to-the-metal."
I never had such issues with the "old" AC engine-driven fuel pump. This only started after the "new and improved" Rotax pump was installed.

Its been a wet May, wettest I've seen. Photo is recent picture of Bloody Mountain's summit in the Sherwins about 1 mile SE of Mammoth Lakes.

We got a little precip on top, this month on the CA side, too. It bumped the snow-pack level from 1% to 2% of historical average...

Down here in the 'High Sierra' both sides are CA.drdehave wrote:We got a little precip on top, this month on the CA side, too. It bumped the snow-pack level from 1% to 2% of historical average...

The look forward has already begun to change, we now have a weak to moderate El Nino and it is rapidly developing and a strong to super nino could be here by winter. Even at current 3.4 range it could be a huge winter like 1969 was only 3.4.

Freshening up the Pacific Ocean. It will be great for the coastal sea life.CharlieTango wrote:Down here in the 'High Sierra' both sides are CA.drdehave wrote:We got a little precip on top, this month on the CA side, too. It bumped the snow-pack level from 1% to 2% of historical average...
