Organizing threads into appropriate Forums

Fellow pilots,

I just ran a quick analysis of threads and forums on this server. As of 14 August 2012, we have 1918 threads in 22 separate forums, for an average of 87 discussion topics per forum. However, 546 of those threads (a whopping 28.5% of the total) are crammed into the Hangar Talk forum. Not only does this make locating a given thread a challenge, but negates the advantage of grouping similar topics under a common heading.

I've recently moved a number of threads from Hangar Talk to more appropriate locations (such as the Safety, Medical, Humor, Flight Instruction, Training, or Insurance forums). This is becoming time consuming. It would be helpful if you could select the most appropriate Forum when starting a new thread, rather than just throwing everything (or actually 28.5% of everything) under the Hangar Talk heading.

Thanks for your participation, and cooperation.

Thanks for your efforts, Paul. It's very helpful for everyone here to have a forum Foster Parent given the website owner's neglect.
