Snowy Cherohala Skyway from the air!

I’m sure a lot of east coast bikers have ridden the Cherohala Skyway from Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC. Beautiful ride if you haven’t, worthy of a biker’s bucket list, I think. Not a bad drive either, if one is averse to two-wheeled transport.

Anyway, Karen and I went sightseeing in the Sky Arrow today, and I thought I’d share what the highest portion, peaking at 5,390’, looks like from the air in the snow!

Thanks for posting this Ed, have rode the “Tail of the Dragon” several times over the years. Nice to see it from above.

Here’s what the southern terminus of Deal’s Gap - the “Tail of the Dragon” - looks like overlooking Cheoah Dam:

That’s my blue 2003 Buell Firebolt in the photo.

And from the air, yesterday:

Look closely center right and that’s the Tapoco Lodge - a very nice destination.

I'm more than a little jealous! I used to live in East Tennessee (Townsend) and really miss that area. Such beautiful scenery! Someday...
