Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).
New here and looking into the sport pilot option. I am in the SF Bay Area (east bay) and am having a tough time seeing what rentals are available if any for light sport aircraft. Furthermore I am a large person both height and cause I’m not skinny therefore weight , which seems to further limit options.
It seems that lists I find of aircraft are out of date or non-existent.
I hadn't checked San Jose as it isn't exactly close, especially with traffic, but then again I don't think I realized how challenging it could be to find these.

The Evektor Sportstar has a good useful load and can accomodate a large/tall person. That was a significant factor in me buying one!
Thanks for the recommendation. I looked at them and look quite nice. Watched a video review and they seemed to really like the substantial feel of it. The newer Harmony looks very nice as well and appears to have a little more room to boot. I really like the look of these aircraft.
