As many of you are aware, in response to a local need, a couple of years ago I jumped through all the hoops to become a Sport Pilot DPE. Since then, several folks on SportPilotTalk have posted or inquired directly about checkrides for Sport Pilot CFI candidates. Although I meet all the FAA requirements to have this privilege added to my Certificate Letter of Authority, and have filed a formal request through the Designee Management System, my local FSDO has not yet responded to my request to officially name me a Sport Flight Instructor Examiner.

Today, my FAA Managing Specialist sent me an email, stating in part:
Based on the above guidance, can you please provide us with documentation that would assist us in determining that there is a need for Sport Pilot Flight Instructor Examiners in the Harrisburg FSDO? Thank you.
Can any of you help me to pull together such documentation? Some of you have already asked if I would be available to provide CFI-S practical exams. I am willing, and able to travel wherever my services may be required. I'm asking anyone who has ever had difficulty scheduling a CFI-S checkride (or who anticipates needing one in the future) to please email me with your name, location, and dates of past or future such requirements.

Thanks, and Safe Skies,
Paul

I will email you an "official" letter in the morning. I will be seeking a CFI-S school and DPE very soon.
