BTW, when I had similar problems I verified a bad sender with this setup:

I guess you could do the same thing with a longer fuel line and locate it in the cockpit - mine would be a bit of a hassle due to the engine location.

New VDO sender fixed the low indications on my analog gauge, not wired to my Dynon.

Being Experimantal, I did go ahead and relocate the new sender off an engine baffle and onto the side of an air duct - no further issues.

Looks good to me.

I have no EGT sensors, so I did not have to deal with them.

Exhaust wrapping is great! Much cooler inside cowling temps and easier to manage temps on the ground.
Wrap avoided EGT probes, per photos above... operating EGT and other temps are exactly as prior to wraps.

Hi Designrs,

The wrap on the EGT probes could cause them to swing 100F+ rapidly. If it doesn't then you're okay. If it does then you know exactly what the problem is. If it does just put a clamp on each side of the EGT probe and cut away a little and leave about 1/8" space before and after the probe.
When mine was wrapped that way my EGT's went nuts. Maybe yours won't?

Roger, my EGT temps are normal when wrapped as shown. I would have left more space around the probes... by the time I saw your post about it the job was already done. Had three flights with normal EGT, so I guess that I'm good!

Remember, absolute EGT values are rarely important.

Normally one just wants to know their readings relative to peak.

Hence, for years EGT gauges did not even display absolute values:

You found peak, set the needle, and enrichened or leaned from there, using the 25° gradations for that purpose.

Since we can't manually lean the ROTAX, the EGT readings are of limited utility. Basically they can help diagnostically, but even there absolute values are not as important as deviation from the other readings.

Again, my Sky Arrow has no EGT indications, and I have never felt deprived in the least.

Looking at the second picture.... the little green wire coming off the probe and running behind the 'tail' of the clamp. Is it in contact and can it be worn/severed by vibration? I don't get a sense of depth looking at the picture so it could clear by an inch.

Hard to tell from the picture.

Bruce: I'm pretty sure the wire is much lower. Good eyes! I'm due for a cowling pull anyway and will check it. Thanks.

Likely the wire for the CHT, and well below the clamp.

Had the cowling off today. Yes, wire is far away from clamp.
Still, I want to install shorter clamps to avoid the excess slop.

If need be you can trim the extra off a clamp with a Dremel Tool with a cut-off blade. Takes 10 seconds.

I wondered what was a clean and simple way to do that.
Thanks Roger.
