Hey, Joel,
I have a squeal in my radio when I key the mic to transmit and during the transmission. When the engine is off and I key the mic, no squeal. When the engine is running and I am not keying the mic, no squeal. When I am receiving with the engine off or on, no squeal. I'm not certain if the receiving party can hear the squeal or not. I will test for that later this week. Any ideas/solutions?

Could be many factors. A description of your system, and makes would be appreciated to give you a better detailed answer. Sound like basic engine interference.

who makes your headset, and is the squeel transmitted.

Lightspeed QFRXCc. I don't think the squeal is transmitted as no one has ever mentioned anything. This week end I plan to be working on my plane and will take a handheld with me to find out. I fly other planes and have never had a squeal with this headset in other planes. My pax can hear the squeal though their headset as well. Also, the transmitting voice sounds like it is over modulating and kind of breaks apart like when you yell into a microphone.

Solution

Hey, reviewing the radio and headset type *lightspeed*. The microphone is not compatible with your radio. Solutions would be to replace the microphone to make it compatible by buying a new one, through http://www.acousticom.com or contacting lightspeed with your issue. We do not service warranty for other helmets. But we can fix your unit and supply you with the right style microphone to work with your radio.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks for the info. I have contacted Lightspeed and am waiting for a call back from their tech department. Can you tell me how much the fix would cost to have you fix my problem?

That estimate would have to be evaluated with the item, and the radio in house. So if they are unable to help you, you can send it to use and we will give you a free estimate.
