Why is it so many come here, sign up, then never post a thing? Looking through the memberships I see a lot of members who have never posted one thing. Some have been members for 3 or more years, some not so long, but the one thing they have in common lack of posts. How can one learn if one does not ask questions?

Some people forget their log in information and sign up again like this Cornfieldflyer guy.
Some just sign up to post a question and once it is answered they never look back.
Some just change names on a whim and never look back.

It only takes one post (an insult or inflamatory accusation) by a narcisist "village idiot" to permanently turn people off.3Dreaming wrote:Some people forget their log in information and sign up again like this Cornfieldflyer guy.

I can understand why some people walk. They don't have time to get caught up in the BS, so they miss out on good information.

A lot aren't real people but are bots. Multiple reasons/uses of bots.3Dreaming wrote:Some people forget their log in information and sign up again like this Cornfieldflyer guy.

Some forums (not this one) require membership just to look around.

Re: Members
Very, very common behavior that I've seen across a wide variety of forums.
People just like to lurk sometimes!

I joined this forum about 3 1/2 years ago and found helpful information regarding LSA maintenance. I have learned to ignore the self proclaimed experts, ego kings, and one with a pocketbook as big as his mouth. There are many members who are intelligent seasoned owners/pilots who pass along helpful information and share their expertise. I generally post when I have something to say and attempt to avoid starting arguments. I sincerely appreciate the many helpful members and have learned many useful tips regarding the care and feeding of my Rotax 912. VR.. Don

I think it's just the nature of social media. I'm active on reddit /askengineers. There's something like 37,000 readers and just a handful of regular commenters. Most people just like to lurk and read.
