exhaust grime on composite planes

Grime
Many of us in the CT group use Oil Eater than can be purchased at places like Sams Club or the automotive stores. Some use Simple Green and there are a few other. I have been using Oil Eater for about 8 years and it is a bio degradable water based solvent. Spray the spot or put it on a rag and even the toughest grime come off. Oil Eater works so well that the grime will be running off before you can get your rag up to it. Many say you should use a PH neutral solution on composites. The problem is PH neutral doesn't cut greasy or oily crime. It takes a base PH product to cut grease and oil. Your dish washing soap is a base and so are most soaps that cut grease and oil. So long as you don't soak the plane it isn't an issue at all. You can if you wish follow the Oil Eater or whatever product with a clean wet rag.
Try it, you'll be shocked at how well it works and it won't hurt your plane or the windshield material.

After you get it clean it might be worth trying a product called RejeX. It's a polymer wax type product that was developed for the military to keep exhaust marks off planes. I've only used it on my cars thus far. The only precaution is if repainting is required the surface must be specially prepped. Might be worth a try.
