As far as the extra 40 lbs affecting payload and range, take a look at the Tecnam Eaglet which is offering the IO-233 as an option. According to their own figures its standard weight is 730 lbs. Lets be generous and add 50 lbs extra for the IO-233 for a total EW of 780 lbs. It carries a full fuel l...

Hi Krish, Welcome to the forum, and to flying. There are no CTLS's at all at RHV. There is only 1 CTLS registered in California, and it's in Los Angeles. There are 3 or 4 CTSW's at RHV, but all privately owned and not being rented out. Aerodynamic Aviation has been mentioned here already, and I woul...

Are there people out there looking to partner up on buying an LSA? ($40K is still a lot of money!) Not seeing much LSA action anywhere near Tucson or Ruidoso, our summer home. Yooo hooo, are you out there? There are quite a few LSA owners that are based at Ryan Field (KRYN) in Tucson. One of them i...

I agree with Jack that you need to fly some LSA.
There is a Flight Design dealer in Cedar Rapids. Also looks like they might have a CTLS available to get checked out in. Here's a link to their website: http://iowaflighttraining.com/index.html

I like Jabiru because it was certificated in Australia at 1500 lbs so I'm confident it was built to handle more than I'll put in it. The CTLS's used in last year's round the world flight, had special permission from the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) to fly with 1654 lb maximum takeoff weig...
