Rainbow Aviation LSRI course

I completed the Rainbow Aviation LSRI course last weekend, in Kingsville, Missouri. Brian and Carol Carpenter were very helpful and knowledgeable. They arranged for inspectors from the Kansas City FSDO to come out and issue temporary certificates. This saved us having to go to our local FSDO for the...

Re: Sutdent Pilot Certificate processing time

Hi Paul, You're exactly right. As of today, the FAA is processing requests received on January 6. If someone is within a week or so of the end of the 90 day period, they can go to: https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/ There is a link to request an exten...

Re: Sutdent Pilot Certificate processing time

A signed copy of the Aircraft Registration Application (8050-1) can be used, in most cases, for 90 days as a temporary registration when carried in the aircraft. When submitted to the FAA, the 8050-1 must be accompanied by an Aircraft Bill of Sale (8050-2).

Re: Skyranger knowledge & experience?

Any updates? Is it safely tucked away in a hangar?

Also, I lost track of the Corbin adventure. I've done a cursory search of the forum but can't seem to find anything after it made it to Tucson.

This picture was taken at Dulles while being flown by Carl Houghten, a previous owner. Carl flew the aircraft, all over the United States, for about 800 hours.

It's a very nice little airplane.

Re: Skyranger knowledge & experience?

I was just looking at the TAF for KCNU. It shows 800 OVC at 0600 local through 1400 local. I hope the TAF is pessimistic.

Keep us posted. I'm sure several of us are following your adventure.

Re: Skyranger knowledge & experience?

It seems to me you are looking at this with a view toward safety. We have chosen to fly aircraft with extremely low wing loading. That makes them capable of flying very well on very little power with an amazingly low stall speed. It also means they are a handful in winds that a Bonanza would easily ...

Sounds like good risk management on your part.
