Re: Rotax 912 filled with green coolant
I have a 2018 912is. I buy my coolant from a BMW motorcycle dealer (blue stuff). 50/50 mix.

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market
Warmi is correct. A "light sport" plane is certainly lighter than the metal GA brand name planes we all know and took lessons in. I fly with a bunch of GA planes for lunch trips (Bonanzas, cessna 172 RG, C-182's, C-170 and an Arrow) and honestly I can say that my plane, a Flight Design CTL...

Stop using your brain and your heart... vote with your gut...; ) My wife bought a "cheap" horse. Trust me, there is absolutely nothing cheap owning a horse. The food, upkeep, vet bills, board... blah... you need to take a look at the annual maintenance, fuel and insurance costs. Hangar/tie...

Re: Light sport dying?
I like this forum... but I noticed that aviation is "tribal". For example, the Flight Design forum is quite active for the amount of aircraft flying in North America... Each aircraft owner flocks to his own kind in order to share maintenance, performance and other experiences.

Re: LSA Safety Concerns/Fears
I actually feel safer in my Flight Design (Light Sport) than the traditional heavier, metal GA planes we all know and love... I grew up flying Cessna's and Pipers. The reasons why I feel safer are: 1) it is a lighter plane, lower stall speed and better in a forward crash. 2) New avionics; I can see ...

Re: Finally!!
buying a plane is a fun journey... i went to Sun n Fun and met all of the usual prospects. My requirements were the occasional long journey and mostly solo sightseeing/lunch trips... I wanted to see if I like flying enough to go the distance some day and earn an IFR and possibly a 4 place plane. I b...

Re: 2013 Tecnam P2008 (Turbo)
I studied this model plane before buying the CTLSi (834lbs empty, loaded, etc). The 912 injected only burns 3.5 - 4.2 gals/hour at cruise. So, I don't have to carry a lot of gas for the occasional fat friend lunch/breakfast trip. Banker's plane is a superb plane in terms of performance, construction...

I fly a Flight Design. Approaching the home airport yesterday and i recognized the guy beside me about a mile away... he too was coming in. I zigged a bit so he could "obviously" get in front of me. He was flying a Skylane, therefore faster than my LSA anyway.. and he is a very nice guy wi...

Let me know when you are flying to Chester... would love to meet up.
Re: LSA in CT
I flew over Windham yesterday at 2,700' and i could see the Pipistrel in the pattern... I did a double take. Nice plane.

Re: Funding for GA Airports
There is a special place in heaven for folks like you...; ) An airport near where I live is (unadvertised) for sale... I dream about it, but the only income is hangar rental. I did the numbers on the back of a napkin and it doesn't come close to penciling... Maybe the price will come down enough so ...
