Re: Ferry Pilot - Tecnam P2008T
Probably related to never ending stories of scores of people being skinned, decapitated, burned , murdered with a chainsaw or some other terrible way ..and then left of rot on in the middle of a city square for everyone to see …but that’s just my wild guess…. [/quote] You'd have to fly to a pretty a...

Re: Ferry Pilot - Tecnam P2008T
Ergo1, I have to agree with drseti’s ferry pilot. Anyone in their right mind would forgo the last part of your repositioning flight. Being that you have made this flight in the past, maybe you could find time to fly the last hop into Mexico yourself? Find a ferry pilot to take your plane to a Texas ...

Re: Pilot's Cove Cafe at Sanford Regional(SFM)
What’s the issue you have with 91 octane MOGAS? It’s approved by ROTAX, its most probably non ethanol, so what’s the problem? I use 91 non ethanol unleaded, sourced from Stewarts, here in NYS. Been using it for well over 2 years without an issue, this past season exclusively. Just finished up my ann...

For the definitive answer to your questions, google Dr Bruce Chein. He is the best AME on the planet. I believe he is on the POA forum. Good Luck!

Wish I could have joined you and Brent. My Sling is still having its Annual/Condition inspection. Should be ready next week. Keep in touch. Where did you do breakfast?

Re: Rotax vs Tempest Oil Filter
Dump the Tempest. The bypass pressure is too low. The Rotax is 18-22 psi. The anti drain back membrane isn't soft enough either and will allow drainage. The new filters are out and were within a couple of weeks. Just change the filter and keep flying. Stay away from Tempest and Champion. If you hav...

Re: Operating temperatures for Rotax 912 ULS
I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum. Flew yesterday, ambient temp was 83F @ FL030 and I had forgotten to take aluminum tape off both radiators, oil temp was no higher than 179-183F. Coolant was 149-172F. I’ve yet to get anywhere near 200+F oil temps in 3 years of owning my SLING 2.

Re: Forced landing... what happens next?
He should get a handheld unit or install an ELT. Handheld, yes. An alternative to installing an ELT might be a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), which need not be installed, and can be carried in any plane. Like an ELT, they can be registered with NOAA. Yes, I’ve got the ACR PLB. No nonsense, and no c...

Re: Forced landing... what happens next?
In addition to the mandated on board ELT, I’ve invested in a ACR handheld unit, which I would hopefully enable on the way down or after landing in the above scenario. After the landing it will be left to the insurance carrier, as to how, when and by what method the plane will return to civilization...

Re: What speed do you taxi at?
Thanks guys! I'll slow it down to 10 knots or less. If you are flying with a ROTAX, recommended RPM is not less than 2000, to protect the gearbox. I’ll be the first to say, this causes you to “Fly” down the taxiway/ramp, not to mention the toll it takes on your brakes. LSA’s with ROTAXS’ are a diff...

Re: Electric LSA
I’ve had very little trouble over the years with combustion engines, be they automobiles or aircraft. Can’t say as much for electronic devices. Thanks, but no thanks...I’ll stick with reciprocating engines for now.
