Re: Insurance Grumblings

I had mine insured through EAA Falcon in Kerville. I had flown it up to Idaho to get it converted to a tail dragger. I needed to update my policy to add a flight instructor to get current flying a tail dragger and to change the plane from a tricycle gear to a tail dragger. When I called Falcon was l...

Re: Bay Area LSA rental?

Hambone Have fun at Stick & Rudder, I have gone up twice. May of 2014 Paul Leaderbrand did my Tail Wheel endorsement & some back country flying with me. Then in August 2014 I flew my Kitfox up and had it converted to a Tail Dragger, and I got current with Preston Riley., prior to flying back...

Re: OSHKOSH 2015

Thanks Paul & Andy I walked around without my crutch for less than 10 minutes yesterday. I will not be doing that again for a couple of weeks. Damned it hurt, I was looking for the pain medication. Crap I did a number on on my knee. I was hoping it would be good enough to go flying this week, da...

Re: Flying Shoes

I use to fly with my regular tennis shoes. I went to Idaho and did some mountain flying. Preston Riley the instructor at Stick & Rudder recommended a thin soled shoe because when you are flying in a Tail dragger you are less likely to stiff foot it and get into the brakes. I was embarrassed a fe...

Re: The Wild Kingdom

My brother live in a subdivision called Pecan Plantation, that has a small airstrip. The HOA just has 400 deer removed because of over population. I continuously have to have my head on a swivel when I am landing at his place.

Both occupants were uninjured. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Plane-Ends-Up-Nose-Down-at-McKinney-Airport-307457511....

Re: Howdy, I’m new to the Sport Pilot Talk

Very nice airplane. Can you switch back and forth from taildragger to trike or is a one time thing? Just thinking you could go tailwheel on a camping trip and then go back to trike for other activities. My mechanic has a tailwheel KitFox but he just bought a Just Aircraft plane to replace it. His K...

Re: Howdy, I’m new to the Sport Pilot Talk

I went to Rainbow Aviation to take the Light Sport Repairman Training, I took the 120 hour class to become a LSRM-A, so now I have no worries about maintenance, or annuals. Excellent move, Paul. I've taken four different courses from Brian and Carol (LSRM-A, -GL, -PPC, and -WSC), and can't say enou...

Re: Howdy, I’m new to the Sport Pilot Talk

Nomore767, I also average of 4.5 to 5.00 gph at 5250-5300 rpm and I cruise about 115KTAS with the KitFox. I picked up about 5 to 10 MPH, by going to the Tail Dragger. I would have probably picked up more had I stayed with the Standard Tires, but I went to the Dresser Smoothies that are 21” diameter....

Re: I pulled a FastEddie....

I do “Fast Eddy” Landings all of the time. My Runway is 5999 Ft X 100 Ft, I aim for the Left or right side depending on the winds, and cut as much Cross Wind out as Possible. I had an instructor in Idaho teach me to do that, and I’d much admit it is better than doing a Ground loop in a Tail Dragger.

Re: OSHKOSH 2015

I was planning on going to Oshkosh again this year but I fractured my femur knee joint. I’m getting to hobble around on crutches for the next 6 to 7 weeks. I don’t think I will be up to walking miles upon miles to look at airplanes.

Re: Howdy, I’m new to the Sport Pilot Talk

Here is a Before & After Photo. I personally think it looks better as a Tail Dragger. I also attached a photo at Promontory Point in Utah flying home after having the plane converted, and yes that is me with my retirement beard. The location of “Promontory Point” was made famous in 1869,when the...

Howdy, I’m new to the Sport Pilot Talk

Hello, I’m new to this Forum, I fly a Kitfox SLSA, it is 703KA the first SLSA built by the Factory. I have owned it since purchasing it from John McBean in 2010. In August of 2014, I flew it from Texas to Homedale Idaho to have it converted from a TriGear to a Tail Dragger, all I can say is much bet...
