Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I agree that both are cool airplanes and you are definitely right about most people not being able to tell them apart. I certainly couldn't at first. The more I learned about the two you can begin to differentiate what kind of people they appeal to. Like I said for me it became a very easy choice (c...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

It's an Aventura made by Aero Adventure. For me the only option was a LSA Amphibian because I don't want to fly anything that can't land in the water. That kind of narrowed it down to the Aventura or the Sea Rey. From all the research I did the Aventura just seemed to fit my build perfectly. Nothing...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I ended up selling some things that gave me the money to buy in cash. I actually attempted to get a loan through nafco but they denied me so I ended up just buying in cash. For various reasons I am not going to go into here I decided to buy new which ended up costing more than I originally anticipat...

Re: Getting Started and purchasing a LSA

Good news on the training front for me. I met with the local EAA chapter today and it sounds like training costs should be very reasonable. They have a membership group that owns the trainer plane which costs $250 a year to join and then they charge $10 + fuel (at 4gph on pump gas) to use the traine...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

Well the only person I would ever consider asking is my dad and I'm not sure he would be willing to anyways. The only person I would ever consider co-signing for would be responsible offspring - in the event that I have any.

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

In reading about signature loans it sounds like the main advantage for me would be that If I do not meet the credit approval I may be able to have a co-signer. The obvious negative is that I am going to be raped on the interest I do believe and I would be on the upper end of a signature loan but. . ...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

^Interesting fortunately being single and having incredibly low cost of living I could easily get by on $300 a month in the event that I was without a job. With my salary and budgeting in all the maintenance, insurance, storage, etc. associated with the plane I am looking at, keeping up on a loan pa...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I have done this before, so it might be worth a try. If you have more money in the bank than what you want to borrow, then talk to the banker and borrow against your own money. When I did this interest was just 1-2% above what my account was drawing. I think this would serve your purpose of buildin...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

Owning and operating an airplane is a very expensive preposition. If I couldn't pay cash, I wouldn't buy one. I've owned 3 in the past, but prefer to rent for now. Well in my case I can pay cash but I would prefer to take this opportunity to build some credit history and I would rather have the mon...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

^Do you mind me asking how much the value of the loan you were trying to get is. In my case the aircraft only cost 25k and they said I would put 15% down so say I put 20% down there out of pocket is only 20k. Given my salary, debt to credit ratio, the fact that I have more than that in the bank, and...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I don't own a home which is kind of the whole point in financing this. I'd like to take this opportunity to build some credit history so it won't be a pain to get a home loan at a reasonable rate. At this point in my life I'm not sure where I'd like to end up geographically and my rent (including ut...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

^ All jokes aside, I certainly don't look at an aircraft as an assets either. By the time you pay for maintenance, upkeep, storage, insurance, etc. (at least in my case) your basically spending the cost of the plane every 10 years. Although I would think they would be an asset in some sense if your ...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I just talked to Rick at NAFCO and they will be able to finance the aircraft for a 10 year loan but it sounds like my lack of credit history will be more of an issue than anything.

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

It is an Aventura II made by Aero Adventure and it is an E-LSA - ut oh. I sort of got the impression that it's experimental kits that are tough to finance but as used it isn't as big of a deal. I am fine treating it as an auto loan (I think). Maybe I need to push the factory salesman a little more b...

Re: Aircraft Financing Advise

I'm buying used from the manufacturer. I asked if he could recommend me some and I didn't get a response. He's been very helpful in everything else so I'm not sure why that is the case other than if he just doesn't really have any to recommend. I don't really have any good connections with my local ...
