Re: How much time?
Pretty fast considering you were in two different planes. Awesome that you have three different LSA's available when so many are hard pressed to find any.

Re: Zero Thrust RPM
I don't know the answer. But in an actual engine out glide the prop would windmill causing some drag, unless you have the ability to feather in flight. I believe only the Pipistral can do that. It depends on the plane/motor. I know for a fact that the 100hp 912 Rotax in the allegro I fly does not w...

Re: Why Sport Pilot
For me getting my sport pilot over ppl was my current needs. I fly for recreation. Yes most flights are within 20 miles but I have done 100 mile round trip adventures. I like the ability to share the experience with friends and family. However, I don't want to load my whole family in an airplane wi...

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC
I flew the allegro once about 2 years ago -- i felt like i spent over half my time chasing the ball, and at one point had it in a full slip... it was coordinated and in level flight, but it was by no means the most aerodynamic configuration for going straight! I might have to ride down there in a f...

Re: New Sport Plane on line in NC
Thats great news! I went for a flight yesterday in the old Allegro (100hp) and plan to solo in the next month.
I would think you could get checked out in the Allegro in 2 hours, just gotta use those feet.

nice, pretty awesome that you had experience in four different aircraft, tail draggers and trikes, before you even got your ticket.

Re: Why Sport Pilot
I am getting my SPL since it is the most affordable and efficient means of flying outside of buying or building an ultralight. Additionally, it is the first step on the path towards obtaining my ppl and the ability to fly my family to the beach, mountains, or to visit extended family. It is the succ...

Re: How much time?
This is a great start guys, thanks for all the votes so far. ~10 hrs to solo ~43 hrs to Private Pilot Wow dstclair! 43hrs to ppl is really incredible. Thanks for doing that! I was 25.4 hours to first solo, 78.7 hours to my license. (OK, so I'm a slow learner...) Maybe not a slow learner, but thoroug...

How much time?
I'm just getting into flight training and I thought it might be valuable for me and others to see how much time everyone had before they solo'd, and then how much total time they had before they (successfully) passed the checkride. So if we could maybe get a list going, that would be great! i.e. sol...
