3rd class medical required for a 162
Hi, I've just relocated to northern VA and one of the flight schools up here is operating Cessna 162s. Naturally, I want to fly them as a sport pilot with a DL as my medical. They have stated that their insurance company requires a 3rd class in order to operate a 162 solo. Anybody have experience wi...

Mark,
Glad to hear this... So this can only mean that your spectacular paint jobs and designs will become standard on all future Tecnam offerings?![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Pilots could now fly bigger planes on driver's license
I'm getting to the point where next week I could legitimately afford an LSA - probably used, and likely a 'professionally built E-LSA' dependent on how the finances/deals fall. The flip side is that my primary mission is point-a to point-b; in that i typically do longer cross countries, and the 120k...

Re: Flight schools and social networking
I recently went through this type of activity with a flight school down here (I'm a business major with an aviation addiction... its dangerous!) My suggestions are: Share events from other pages (and make sure you 'like' the pages who's content you're sharing), which gets a cross-posting going to ot...

Re: Cleared for the checkride, but...
I have a light DPE, just waiting to see if they are willing to do it in a Champ -
Other issue I see is that either he's going to have to fly to them, or pay them to drive to him... All the folks I know are based in NC.

I'm checking with some local contacts for him over the weekend - I don't anticipate hearing back from the folks I reached out to until Monday, however I think I'll be able to get some good information.

Re: Toy airplanes
According to the magic of google, the aileron/rudder interconnect was a mod required from 72-74 on Cessna 185s that were fitted with floats, and came standard on any aircraft that were shipped from the factory with floats afterward.

Re: Toy airplanes
They are *all* toys... some get a bit more utility, some get a bit more 'pure fun factor'...
I'm happy to fly *anything* that I'm in... regardless of size... I still get a little thrill out of commercial (says the guy who has already completed 120 flights on DAL this year..)

Re: Vans RV-12 S-LSA
The RV-12 is a joke. All metal? 912ULS? Low wing? Hot bubble canopy cockpit? Sensinich prop (due to size known to kick rocks from ther unway into the engine and prop). Then why is it selling so well? Sure, its not a CTLS... but as we discussed in other posts, it meets a completely different niche/u...
