Re: ADS-B Reflections - (a confession and a suggestion)
Reference: http://lsaeronaut.blogspot.com/2014/09/klro-return-trip.html I recently purchased a second hand Garmin GDL39. This is my effort to get some hands on experience with this new technology. My thought is to eliminate my subscription to XM weather and benefit from free TIS. I got my first real...

Re: iPad Mini vs 696
I have an Android Nexus with Pilot installed. I also have a GDL39 for weather (and traffic). I prefer the panel mounted 696.
Re: KFFA
Great Picture! You must go back and sign the register, it will make you feel good.

I had to replace the Honeywell sender last month. Evidently it is not uncommon for that part to fail, I was glad mine did it on the ground. It sounds to me like you handled the situation well.

While I have seen it occasionally it doesn't seem to be pervasive.

Re: Here's a twist: a video FOR Rich
What editing software are you using? Camtasia. No enhancements. Virb Edit takes the clips from the camera and combines the GPS information if desired. I bring that (mp4) into Camtasia for content edits, transitions and titles. Then I add the soundtrack if needed.

References: http://youtu.be/OxyYCqRQe88 and http://youtu.be/1OdItC8MT3w These are my latest examples of using the Virb cameras. Note very little "jello" or vibration. The exterior camer is located just aft of the right wing leading edge. I'll work on tilt and angle just a bit more but I am...

Re: Here's a twist: a video FOR Rich
Reference: http://youtu.be/l8lkwBFz5XI I've been using the Virb Elite for some time now. I like that I can turn it on and forget about it, battery life is 3+ hours. I also really like the GPS "Overlays" that can be used to enhance the flight review. The referenced video uses two Virb camer...

Re: What will happen with the Sport CFI Rating
I fly LSA because they are fun. I don't want to go back to the heavy feel of legacy GA aircraft or the old technology engines or the wing leveler autopilot. The DL may hurt LSA sales but if it brings more pilots back to the airport then it is a good thing. I'm sure at least a few of them will want t...

Re: Aiming for your touch down point
An interesting discussion. One of the thrills of flying is that "squeak" when the tires just kiss the surface. The trick has always been trying to do that consistently. No magic, just practice, practice, practice. I've found that ANY power in the flare will have me floating forever. So whi...

Re: How do you guys afford a brand new SLSA?
This path doesn't offer much to he or she who demands instant gratification. BS in Engineering, followed by 7 years of "free" education in the US Navy, another 25+ years using that education to get paid a reasonable salary in a major corporation, allowed me (making some financial sacrific...

Prop Filter
My Garmin Prop Filter (neutral density) was delivered this week and I had my first chance to fly with it yesterday. I like the effect.
