Re: 100LL
Those aircraft with TIG-welded aluminum box tanks (like the RV-12) and plastic tanks (like the AeroTrek) will probably handle ethanol OK. Maybe even those planes that have a rubber fuel bladder inside the wing. But not my SportStars with their wet wings. Happened on this thread and would like to ad...

Thanks Jeff. Unfortunately, like many flight schools at the time, there was a revolving door for CFIs. Most were young guys working up their hours for commercial jobs and moving on quickly. After 30+ years, I recall only one --the grandson of the school owner-- and have tracked him down to find the ...

I have a valid Student Pilot Certificate, my own LSA and a willing Subpart H CFI. The CFI has prior hours in type and has performed familiarization and flight testing of my aircraft. Basically, all is set to begin flight instruction in my own aircraft. Naturally I would like to include my hours accu...

Paul - Thank you. I understand the private pilot requirements in 61.109, and the need for a sport pilot seeking PP privileges to meet them. I also understand CFIS dual instruction hours can not be used to meet the 20 hour PP dual instruction requirement. However, I wasn't referring to the PP dual in...

Just so there in no confusion... If you train with a CFIS (sport pilot CFI), your training only counts towards a sport pilot license. It can NOT be used for private. If you want to go on to private pilot, you will need 20 more minimum hours with CFI who teaches private. Paul - Sorry, I'm confused. ...

Re: EFFICIENCY
Below is the 100% efficient use of hours toward the Sport Rating. Red is Dual. Blue is Solo. Every square represents 1 hour you need to fly. Anything more than this and you are wasting money and time. OF COURSE MOST PEOPLE WILL NEED MORE DUAL THAN THIS BUT IF YOU FLY SOLO MORE THAN THE REQUIRED TEN...

I have no horse in the race but you might want to look at the Anywhere Map Quadra. Appears to offer more standard features than either of the GPSs you've mentioned for notably less $$. Display seems easier on my eyes too, although that is personal preference. Here's a comparison: http://www.anywhere...

Karl: They are very much for real. I personally know the Avid Mk-IV owner who's plane is shown on the site as a representative retro install. He cut the tops off and installed these poly tanks inside his factory wing tanks as a solution to the ethanol issue. You may recall the original 14 gal. 'wrap...
