flying to Florida from Dallas next month and I'll plan the 600nm trip with one fuel stop.

You may make a personal choice to take shorter elapsed time legs but this has nothing to do with the aircraft being an LSA.

agreed. just different lsa for different missions. On a 900nm flight from Arlington, WA to Los Angeles I stopped twice(once overnight.) Washington and Oregon were beautiful from the air. I probably wouldn't do that in a cub or a slower lsa.

Any pireps on the Renegade Falcon yet? Did they have one for test flights at Sebring? Will they have one at Sun N Fun?

In my case, it's a function of age (and bladder range).

Paul -- I figured that's what you (and Dave) meant. Just didn't want a newer member to misinterpret that it was a limitation of the aircraft.

Did anyone go to Sun N Fun? Was the Renegade Falcon there, in either its tricycle or tailwheel form? Did anyone take a spin around the pattern in it?

just looking for an unbiased pirep, thanks.

(Full disclosure, I'm not employed by Renegade, but I do help with their website.)

I am a student sport pilot (so take the following with a huge grain of salt) with about 20hrs. The first 5hrs were in the Falcon LS. My CFI switched me to the indestructible undercarriage of the C150 when we got into landings. :) I'll transition back shortly, I hope. But I will say its a blast to fly. It's comfortable (I'm 5'10" 220) with great visibility. My biggest complaint with switching to the C150 was the 250-500ft/min climb out. I can be 1-1.5 miles(!) from the airport before I reach pattern altitude. With the Falcon, we were frequently at pattern altitude by mid-field. It's really a fun, mostly hands off, slick plane to fly.

Regarding the 8.4gal/hr at high power cruise... I think that was observed with a new engine during break in (full rich). I trust Lycoming's published (http://www.lycoming.textron.com/news-an ... engine.pdf) 5.2 economy cruise for the non-IO version. So, while I never was paying attention to fuel burn during my first hours few, :) I do trust the advertised 4.8gal/hr number on the Falcon with the IO-233.
