This is especially true, since single place aircraft are not required to have, and often don't have a ELT.drseti wrote:Eddie's mention of Steve Fossett brings to mind that you should invest in a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon), register it with NOAA, and carry it on your person during the trip.

With his wingspan, I’m not sure that would be much of a problem!Warmi wrote:

Airspeed would be right with the flow of traffic. Just stay in the right lane.
Retired from flying.

Not too sure. Starting to think I might be biting off more than I can chew!TimTaylor wrote:So, when does this adventure take place?

With some of the current westerly winds, I’d probably be slower!TimTaylor wrote:Airspeed would be right with the flow of traffic. Just stay in the right lane.

I mentioned a leg west from Amarillo, TX on our Page trip. We spent an extra night in Amarillo due to 60+ kt winds from the NW at 9,000’. And you have to be close to that altitude due to terrain. Not to mention what I recall was an AIRMET for moderate to severe turbulence surface to 18,000’. Very similar to what you’d face today:
Stipulated it’s probably somewhat calmer in the tunnels!
A good time to mention one needs to be very flexible on scheduling on a trip like this. That counts double for a new-to-you E-AB this time of year.
Re: Low and slow XC prep
As I said, take plenty of cash and two credit cards. A two or three day trip can turn into a two week trip. You also never know when your credit card will get hacked and you need to shut it down. That happens to me about once a year. It just happened again last week. Someone charged a $215.99 item to my card. Last year it was $700 worth of women's clothing. I don't wear women's clothing.
Retired from flying.

It would be OK if you did, Tim. I don't judge on the basis of such trivialities.TimTaylor wrote:I don't wear women's clothing.

In my few encounters with Tim he was not wearing women’s clothing.drseti wrote:It would be OK if you did, Tim. I don't judge on the basis of such trivialities.TimTaylor wrote:I don't wear women's clothing.
At least not visibly.
