Sport aviation is growing rapidly. But the new sport pilot / light-sport aircraft rules are still a mystery to many flight schools and instructors. To locate a flight school offering sport pilot training and/or light-sport aircraft rentals, click on the "Flight School And Rental Finder" tab above. This is a great place to share ideas on learning to fly, flight schools, costs and anything else related to training.

It is quite silly to see foreign PP students all dressed up like like that flying little Cessnas and Pipers hehe.

Not that silly.
In about 2 years, some of those foreign PP students are sitting in the right seat of B-777's. I see nothing silly about that.

We have a flight school here in Southern Illinois that was purchased by the Chinese for training airline pilots. They are already hired by the airline when they are here doing training, so why not wear the uniform.

As there are no wings for Sport Pilots, it looks as though I will need to customize my own. Once I complete my training, I will have them placed in a shadow box along with my certificate.
Your certificate belongs in your wallet.
Retired from flying.

Any pilot, at any level, can earn a nice set of wings from the FAA Safety Team, after completing just a bit of recurrency training.
See http://www.faasafety.gov.
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.
