Thanks to our Veterans we have our freedom and the ability to enjoy our lives in the USA. I got to enjoy the day with my Son and see the sights off the coast of Acadia National Park, ME. No videos today but some of the incredible views Justin took off shore from my RV12 below;

Brian, Nice photos, it sure is nice flying the Maine Coast. Do you live in Portland or the area?BrianL99 wrote:I didn't do video when I flew to Bar Harbor for a Lobster Roll on Saturday, but a couple of photos around Portland, Casco Bay & Old Orchard.
Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
I live in Boston, but was craving a Lobster Roll and had a friend who had the afternoon free ... so I took her for a ride.
Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
Brian if you are up in the Belfast / Bar Harbor area email me or call me. I will PM you my information.BrianL99 wrote:I live in Boston, but was craving a Lobster Roll and had a friend who had the afternoon free ... so I took her for a ride.
Not sure if you saw the post under Fly-ins, but KBST fly-in is Sept 19th.
Hope to see you there

Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
Great pics. Nice boys.
A few years ago I was lucky enough to co pilot a B17, Sentimental Journey around Bar Harbor for a week. Beautiful place.
Motor mounts broke, we rented a car and we drove down your HWY 1. It is spectacular and is just as beautiful, if not more so than CA's HWY 1.

What kind of LSA is a B-17?rdo4evr wrote:Great pics. Nice boys.

I got to fly as a passenger in a B-17 a couple of years ago and we 'bombed' a couple of villages on along the Delaware in PA!
Welcome!

Your RV-12 still looks as beautiful as ever! What kind of performance do you get with the 3-blade prop? Do you lose any speed from the slight increased drag?
I didn't build but did buy an RV-12 SLSA and I really am very happy with it in SC.
Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
She does have more drag, noticeable coming in the patern. I usally come in 5 kts faster that the other 12s but can slow her down real quick. It is about 2 knots slower at cruise about 116, but climbs at 1200 ft per min at gross. Still a great flying plane with 2 or 3 bladesNomore767 wrote:Dave,David wrote:Brian if you are up in the Belfast / Bar Harbor area email me or call me. Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
Absolutely is a great flying airplane, best I've flown amongst the LSAs, although I really liked the Skycatcher.
So, you chose the 3-blade prop for the looks more than performance?

Re: Flying with my Son around Bar Harbor ME
Looks and smooth performance. The 3 blade made sense since I built my 12 as a EAB with a few additional changes to the panel and most mods before she was finished.Nomore767 wrote:Absolutely is a great flying airplane, best I've flown amongst the LSAs, although I really liked the Skycatcher.

Ground clearance is better on the 3-bladed prop, correct?David wrote:Looks and smooth performance. What kind of maneuver is that? (I didn't realize your plane was aerobatic)BrianL99 wrote: when I flew to Bar Harbor for a Lobster Roll
