Karen and I made it in last night and we're camping at the raceway campground. Met flocker and designers and another couple at the Inn on the Lake for dinner last night. Catching the trolley over from the campground to the Expo in about an hour. Will be at the 2:15 PM seminar as well.

Sorry I missed you guys at the Expo today. I had to get back to Tampa and when I got back to my car in the parking lot, the battery was dead! It's my "winter" car that I seldom drive and forgot that the lights aren't automatic. When I left the house this morning it was dark and where I was park, I didn't get a reflection from the headlights.

If that wasn't bad enough, the battery is in the trunk. A little Google search told me there was a positive battery connector under the hood, so I was finally able to get it jumped ... & of course, because the car wasn't able to do its "startup computer check", the transmission was in "limp mode" and I couldn't go over 30 mph. I finally pulled over and let the battery charge enough that I wasn't afraid to shut it off & then I was able to re-cycle the car's computers. Rotax is way simpler.

I for one was disappointed in the Expo ... not much going on and nothing really new. I though the Bristell was a pretty neat airplane, but the Tecnam Astore was gorgeous. Of course, at $175,000 for the one I looked it, it should be gorgeous.

The weather played havoc with SportAir's display, as they had a couple of TL Ultralight Stings bogged down in bad weather, a few hundred miles away. I suspect that was the case with a couple of manufacturers.

I still love the Arion lightening for its looks and speed. If it had a parachute and wasn't so squirrelly to fly, I'd love to have one.

I also got my first look in a long time, at a Velocity. What a neat airplane, but they say they're impossible to land, as they don't really have a traditional rudder in the single engine model.

I hope everyone enjoyed their trip to the show.

Hope you got home safe Brian. Sorry to have missed you.

Yes, a few manufactures had partial or empty booths due to inability to get their aircraft there:
SkyArrow and Sonex did not appear to have any planes.
SportCruiser just had one. It would have been nice to have seen more from them on display.

OTOH: Tecnam USA is based there and had their hangar open and filled with goodies including a turbo Astore.

Lightning managed to have one aircraft brought in.
It was quite an impressive performance spectacle when it flew a demo.

VFR weather was tough this week but still the planes could have been brought down in advance. I believe some companies moved planes to someplace close by early.

BTW: just got news of a SportCruiser that will be based in Lakewood, NJ for training and rental.
This is really great news as there are not many LSA in that area at all.

Unfortunately, just witnessed what may very well have been a fatal stall/spin.

Some sort of seaplane-looking thing.

More as I know more.

An aviation news website is saying it is an "Aero-Adventure" seaplane.

Having lost my own father last week, I pray for the families of the two who were suddenly taken away.
