Howard, what did you find were realistic payload numbers for the Tecnams? They had a grand presence at the 2013 Sun 'n Fun and the designs + fit & finish of the planes drew me over for a closer look. Quite beautiful, I thought. When I started reading promotional info on several, it seemed as tho' the models they were exhibiting with the gizmos and widgets they were so proud to discuss made the planes almost incapable of carrying two people with full fuel and no bags. Were those unrepresentative a/c, perhaps?

Jack,

Good question. I asked too but with all the 'busy busy' it was hard to get the exact numbers for the exact plane we were looking at.
I would agree that just because you can get it in doesn't make it practical but then they are trying to demo as much of their options as they can.

They had a P2008 with 'steam gauges' and an Aera 796 didn't fly as a demo. The actual demo was flown and bought at the show!
It had way more avionics than I would have…3 x Garmin G3x for example which though not that heavy does crank the cost up.

I'm going to spend some time looking at the weight/load options so I'll try and provide an answer then. Off the top of my head I seem to remember as equipped it was in the low 800's, more than the RV12 and less than the C162. The P2008 has metal wings and tail but composite fuselage for a weight/practicality combo.
I was noting down as much as I could in my trusty notepad but that became quite dog-eared so I'll have to see if I can decipher it!

Cheers, Howard

Still chuckling at the dude on the grass by the taxiway. Looks like the RV "kneecapped" him. (of course it didn't... just looks funny).

Great pictures!

Bruce,

When we took those photos, there was a group putting together one of those flying wing thingies that lifted a car/dune-buggy. Not my personal cup of tea but each to his own.

They were doing some kinds of gymnastics on the grass behind the RV12 to do with getting this flying wing thingy going.

Or, maybe it was a pilates class…can't be sure.

Cheers, Howard.

Technically, Howard, the Maverick is a powered parachute (PPC). But, yes, thingy describes it perfectly.
