It was actually surprisingly nice feeling to have a true paper book in my hands again but ultimately, can't beat the convenience of having 100+ books on my iPad :-)
No worries, just wanted to offer. I do have a few paper books, John Grisham, for leisurely reading. (purchased used of course  )

I dont have hundreds but I do have several flying books on my iPad. It's main use is for my plane and flying. I have every manual for every part on the plane from nose to tail on my iPad. It's all I need when I head off to the airport.

I think the book that made me the man I am today is the Anarchist's Cookbook.
Now that is funny!

I would resist buying apps, especially expensive navigation apps, until further in your training.

I use iOS devices, and these are some free ones I suggest:

FlyQ Insight
AeroWeather
AutoDens

Don't forget that Hilton Software provides a free trial subscription to WingX Pro7 for student pilots.

The VFR version of WingX Pro is only $.99/year.
A very nice feature is the simulator, to practice on.
It is excellent. I have been using it for over 4 years.
