I hate to have to do this, SP, but - yep, Strike One.

For balance, does someone get at least a ball for the condescending and baiting "chirping" comment?

I just checked the link and it worked for me. The attachment was direct from the online AIM.Wm.Ince wrote:

We're running out of Tampa.
Which airport? I have a home in Tampa, headed there next week.

If I was to suggest I agree, is that a "ball" or a called strike?

I find it very interesting that this forum was able to operate for many years without having to resort to baseball metaphors.
I think we all know what/who changed that.

At least we don't have to resort to football metaphors (as in, my plane can take off in the length of a football field...)MrMorden wrote:I find it very interesting that this forum was able to operate for many years without having to resort to baseball metaphors.

Well, it's not really a strike, and it wasn't foul, so I guess a ball is appropriate. (Thanks for the suggestion, Eddie. You wanna be assistant ump?)FastEddieB wrote:For balance, does someone get at least a ball for the condescending and baiting "chirping" comment?

CTLSi wrote:FYI, I often use the TRK+ALT autopilot mode when flying a corridor just to make sure there is no deviation. Having the plane fly the heading and altitude on those longer routes is a lot less load and ensures wind correction is automatically handled.
I am thoroughly convinced he does not know the difference.3Dreaming wrote:Flying the corridor using the track feature on the autopilot is OK, but if assigned a heading to fly it is not. If assigned a heading you need to use the magnetic compass or your heading indication on the Dynon. You can use your autopilot and set a track that will give you the correct heading on the Dynon. If you are setting the assigned heading as a track in your autopilot you are doing it wrong. You might get away with it, but it is still wrong.
Good luck on getting him to fully understand AND AGREE with it.

Re: Altitude Reference: Stratus 2 WAAS or Altimeter?
An observation: We collectively create some of the nonsense that CTLSi churns out and about which we then complain. I suggest the benchmark on how much attention an inaccurate post receives is the amount needed to correct the inaccuracy. E.g. in this discussion, I think we all realize this was accomplished quite some time ago. If the benchmark is to earn a confession by CTLSi that he was wrong on this matter, we'll be at this forever. Rather than the enabling behavior of sustaining a debate when it isn't needed - which just seems to feed Hisneeds - let's adopt the practice of moving on once a clarification has been accomplished.
while the ump is keeping track of strikes I'll just ask you to revisit one of your recent gems and reflect on it a bit:
"The guys presenting danger are the ones who rarely or have never flown in congested ATC controlled airspace. You know, like most of the old guys on this board who are hanging around a Unicom field or not flying at all, just chirping on an aviation board."
This is, yet again, the generalizing and 6th grade name calling you post on occasion that is unwelcome and also inappropriate.

Well put.
Thanks for that.
This chirping old guy was an instrument instructor for decades in a very busy ATC environment - South Florida. SportPilot and Prof Shuch and any of the other chirpers can speak to their own qualifications.

I learned to fly out of a Class C airport and if ATC extended my downwind more than 1/2 mile, I was busting Boston's Class B space. Does that count for "real experience" ?
