Re: Another milestone reached
I'm proud of you, Richard, and can't wait to go flying with you (purely as a passenger). Well done!

Re: Another milestone reached
One tip of advice that I might offer up to students on the checkride is to consider flying over the destination airport at say 1,000 ft above pattern for observation. Call your usual inbounds at 10 miles. If at 5 miles you do not have the airport 100% positively identified without a doubt, with wind, traffic and pattern direction, announce your inbound again and that you are "flying over the field at X,XXX ft (one thousand feet over pattern) for observation".
I say this because you may be unfamiliar with the airport, may not have the benefit of GPS, may be following divert procedures, and may have other airports nearby. If you get "lost" or go the the wrong airport you FAIL! It also shows that you are thorough and authoritative and in control of the situation… plus it allows you to assess the airport for traffic, wind, or any unusual circumstances.
CFI's feel free to chime in with your comments.

Thanks Andy. FUN and experience building is what I am looking for now. It is so great not to have to do 7 to 12 various types of landings a day anymore and actually GO SOMEPLACE!
Re: Another milestone reached
If your experience is like mine, you'll find when going places that every runway has its quirks and you end up getting lots of different kinds of landings in at the same time...double bonus!designrs wrote:Thanks Andy.
