Checkride from a DPE perspective
Interesting, light hearted view of check rides: http://r.smartbrief.com/resp/epryDPwTAY ... t=standard

Re: Checkride from a DPE perspective
Pretty sad commentary on the CFI.
While I teach many things that are not aimed at "the test", I do try to cover everything that will be in "the test". It should not be necessary but doesn't hurt to have a little G2 on the DPE. But, the bottom line is, the candidate should be prepared, and that is really not that hard to do or to know. As just one example, a "practice check ride" would do wonders to expose uncertainty in the candidate.

Re: Checkride from a DPE perspective
If the student has done all his or her training with one instructor, such a flight (we call it a "recommendation ride") with a different instructor will help the student to overcome the jitters that naturally occur when you fly with someone new.jnmeade wrote:As just one example, a "practice check ride" would do wonders to expose uncertainty in the candidate.
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.
