Eddie, the important thing is not that you're happy, but that Karen is. :D

I agree!

Garage door is in:

Done with the framing for the garage ceiling:

One minor hitch: In spite the “perc test” showing an area suitable for a drain field, once dug one of three trenches did not drain properly due to underlying rock. Easiest thing to do was to just scale our building permit back from 3 bedrooms to 2. We did pass the final septic inspection with that change. We had only intended 2 rooms as bedrooms anyway, so no big loss.

Karen’s up there now and they started working on our carport:

That's really, really impressive, Eddie!

Great planning and execution.

Really, not a whole lot of planning involved, but in spite of that it almost looks like somebody had a plan!

And, of course Karen is painting the doghouse to match!

Fantastic progress! You and Karen should be justifiably proud, Eddie! Awfully darned cute that the dog gets his own pole barn home as well!

I'm glad to know you'll have a matching place to stay when you cross the boss.

Well, that would be less draconian then what happened to me last time!

Good news: cast is off and arm is healing nicely*.

Made a quick trip up today.

The garage is now properly "finished" with drywall and insulation:

We're fine with it as is, but at some future date we could always paint it.

Inside, the painting is done, with a fairly neutral gray that Karen selected:

Electrical is finally supposed to get finished starting Monday. Garage lights, switches, outlets, ceiling lights and fans, etc., etc. Karen and I have purchased most of those already.

Flooring (porcelain ceramic downstairs, vinyl planking upstairs) scheduled for 7/23.

Oh, and a word to the wise: AWD doesn't help much with the wrong tires:

Fortunately, my contractor has a big, honkin' Ford truck and I had a chain and we got "FLEXIE" pulled out in short order.

*I don't know if I mentioned it here, but after decades of procrastination, on 5/29 I had surgery for both a carpal and cubital tunnel "release" on my right arm. An ongoing issue with hand numbness at night and at certain elbow angles finally led to a constant slight numbness in my right index and middle fingers which was becoming problematical, along with some atrophy of the muscles at the base of my right thumb. I blame 50 years or so of bicycling, motorcycling, weight lifting and tool usage, though it might just be age-related wear-and-tear. One month in, things are progressing well, if somewhat slowly. Will likely be another month or so before I'll have the strength to get into and out of the Sky Arrow, though I did give a BFR in a 172 while still in that cast.

None right now. Trying to laser-focus on getting all the permits and Certificate of Occupancy. Other details can wait, and I don't see "attached garage" floor finish as a high priority.

Food for thought Eddie, if you are even remotely thinking about coating the floor do yourself a favor and do it before you move in. Moving all your stuff out and storing it for a week while the floor cures is no fun after you moved in. Also, it's easier to coat a clean floor with no oil stains or crud on it.

I did the epoxy coating at a "brand new" house I bought and it was the best thing ever. And I did it before I moved in. Later when you spill oil or other chemical on it it easily wipes off with a shop rag and bever stains. Best floor coating ever.
