Another short clip, this one is a touch and go at Dayton, TN (2A0).

What do you fellow GoPro users recommend for an external mount?

Nice! And quite an interesting "hard stop" on that full-throttle position. Do you actually have to move your fingers to the sides?

As for external mounts, some of mine are posted elsewhere here...just search my username, should get you there. (And, my YouTube channel has a "How-To" video dealing with mounts.)

I'd never noticed before, and had to watch again to see what you meant. There is just enough room for fingers with the throttle at its stop. The clearance is slightly less with the instrument panel face cover, then it would be otherwise. I'll check your other post for Go Pro mount info - thanks!

I've been using the suction cup mount for several years and never had any issues.

Same here, it's a really good mount. When you mount it somewhere where there is significant wind buffet (like the tail on my CT) you can get a lot of shake from the suction mount. The underside of my wing has been the most stable location. But I have had it mounted it various places all over my airplane all day long in changing temperatures and it has never even thought about coming off.

If that seems too risky, if you have a tie down ring on a wing you can build a mount easily to attach there. Gear legs and wing struts are also likely candidates.

Under the wing seems to be the most stable location to mount the camera. I use a parachute cord tether from the suction cup mount to the wing strut.

A lot of CT guys (me included) are reluctant to tether the camera, afraid that if it breaks loose it will beat the tar out of the airframe. That is less of a concern with a strut and a long enough tether I think.

I'm gonna give this a try as an external mount. I just can't trust the suction cup mount on the surface of 70 year old AL, so I fabricated this. I think it will hold - It uses 3M double sided tape AND a screw. Hope to fly with it later this week :D

It was pure luck SportPilot, I was looking for a hangar for the project Ercoupe in the background, the third time I bugged the airport manager about my place on the hangar waiting list (I had been on the list for 1 1/2 years) he mentioned that one of the tenants was trying to sell an Ercoupe :D
