While earning my tailwheel endorsement this past weekend, I was able to overfly First Flight Airport and the Wright Brothers Memorial.
Unfortunately, the crosswinds were a bit too brisk for this novice tailwheeler and his nervous instructor to attempt a landing there...maybe some other time!

Re: KFFA
nice photo -
Landing there is on my list of place to fly to, hopefully soon.

Re: KFFA
Thanks...although I now realize I could have gotten a better shot had I simply aimed more to the right and put the obelisk right in the center of the frame. No real excuse, either -- the visibility out the front cockpit of a Citabria is phenomenal...

Re: KFFA
if you follow the road on the left side toward the sound, at the very upper left corner of the picture (I think) is a campground I used to frequent. It's close enough to walk to KFFA. My (ex) wife and I walked our golden retriever to the field once and ended up catching a beach tour flight in a 172 from there. That's the closest I've come to "flying to" FFA.
I still miss that dog.

Great Picture! You must go back and sign the register, it will make you feel good.

That's the plan, Dave! My wife really likes the area now (we were there so she could take a CME course, and really came to like the resort at where we stayed up in Duck, about a 15-20 minute drive north from KFFA), so I think repeat visits will be in our future. We did visit the Memorial and museum itself last May when we were there with her parents.deltafox wrote:Great Picture! You must go back and sign the register, it will make you feel good.
KMQI is a neat little airport, that's where my tailwheel instructor is based (she flies banners as well). All 31 of my logged tailwheel landings were there.

Slightly different vantage point below...better angle, but the cowling and prop are in the way.

Not even a little. I much prefer my 'new' wife. 15 years and counting as of the 9th. Two awesome boys. Life is good.drseti wrote:But, apparently, not that wife?Merlinspop wrote:I still miss that dog.

I'm happy for you, Bruce. Muriel and I have been together 21 years now (and married almost 18). Second families, especially blended ones, can be a joy (and our reward for surviving our reckless youths).
