Hudson River Corridor in a Tecnam P-92

Post by rgstubbsjr »

Tuesday morning my wife and I left DXR at 8:15 AM (local) and went over to fly the Hudson River Corridor. Flying the corridor in a Light Sport made us something of a oddity. The helicopter pilots are used to heavier planes barreling through "their" airspace, disrupting their tours and making it hard to maintain clearance. Not to mention generating turbulence.
We were puttering along at 900 ft, and 70-80 knots, about the speed of the choppers, making very little turbulence. It made life easy for the chopper pilots. One chopper asked if he could fly along side so his customers could take pictures of the "little airplane". Unfortunately he was directly into the sun for us, so my pictures of him are just big bright blobs.

What a beautiful flight!
