Guys:
Here's my latest video, spotlighting a dozen safety and performance tips, gathered during my first 1,000 hours in my airplane. A few of these might be rather make and model specific; so, apply them to your situation as appropriate.

Very well done, thanks. Especially liked the "Killing Zone" and was wondering if you believe it exists for total time or for time in each aircraft. My feeling is in each aircraft, gaining just enough confidence to be dangerous.

Rich,
Excellent videos, as always. I particularly like how your points are orientated to the Rotax 912 and your lovely Sting. Very informative.
All the best for the New year!
Cheers, Howard.

Excellent, Rich! One minor suggestion, to benefit those of us old timers who can't remember twelve items ten minutes later:
How about a brief review at the very end? Something like "in summary, those twelve tips are:" and then a one-sentence reminder about each.
Now, what was it we were just saying?

Very, very well done - thanks for that.
One quibble (of course)...
A crosswind should never affect prop dynamics, unless the plane is slipping or skidding.
Right?

Roger that!

Yes, Paul, I really should have done that, especially with such a long video. I had trouble remembering more than two at a time--while working on them! NEXT time, on "Anatomy of a Crash Landing at Lake Tahoe," I will do that for sure.

Technically I guess you are correct, Eddie, however, it seems to on this DUC propeller, which is prone to cavitation--and I think wind, especially variable or gusty, from side or back facilitates it. However, I can't rule out uncoordinated flight.

But in flight, there is never wind from the side or back, notwithstanding gusts or uncoordinated flight.drdehave wrote:

Hard to say, but are we having a "Stick and Rudder moment"?

Crosswind landings either side-load your gear or your prop, pilots choice.FastEddieB wrote:But in flight, there is never wind from the side or back, notwithstanding gusts or uncoordinated flight.drdehave wrote:

More on the...
How about a brief review at the very end?
Paul, the more I thought about this, the more right I knew you were. So, here is a link to Google Docs, where I have posted a brief pdf of the "meat" of the video:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-m16V ... sp=sharing
It's in the form of a summary checklist--to the video points.
(10 min later)...Whoops, I'm having trouble getting that Google Doc to print off correctly, so just in case, I'll put the pdf, here (below), too!

Thanks, Rich, for this fine safety training supplement. (I got it OK from Google Docs, only after signing in -- but it's very convenient to have it available here!)
