Data point #1: There are still aluminum and tube & fabric planes flying along quite nicely after 50 or more years.

Data point #2: I've heard tell of a 2007 CT with fiberglass issues. Ugly ones.

Not dissing the CT, but newer is not always better and older is not always junk.

Not to mention the cost to repair that CT will probably be enough to buy a really nice tube & fabric airplane.
