Voltage Regulator

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Have any of you experienced any problems with the 912 voltage regulator. It is a Ducati.

mine burned out at about 300 hours.

bought a new one from lockwood. lockwood tech support said that in most cases the contacts need cleaned up but mine was burnt to a crisp.

they gave me some instructions to test with a meter, i think to make sure the problem wasn't the stater.

I think there was a defective batch and someone isn't stepping up to accept responsibility.

You can search the Matronx list server. There is a Rotax interest list there that will likely have mention of it, if it's a wide spread problem. The list is pretty active, probably worth subscribing to for anybody with a Rotax engine.
