CHange SPortstar engine from 100Hp to 130 HP

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Post by copilot »

I am sportstar owner power by 100 hp engine but really interested change my engine due heavy weight also low Cruise speed(85knot).
prefer use 130hp engine limbach from Germany or Jabiru 3300cc 120hp .
Please let me know if any one have any same experience or idea which help to decide to do it or not in case of change which one will suite for sportstar ?

130 HP

Have you researched how fast the 130 will take you, is it in LSA limits, or are you flying with a PPL, may just have to watch your VNe. I think the VNe is 20% lower than what is stated, maybe not tho.

As I understand it, in order to remain a legal S-LSA the manufacturer must approve any changes.
