Lambada Motor Glider

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Lambada Motor Glider

Post by SP_Laser »

I don't have enough great things to say about this airplane. errrrrr, uhhh (cough) I mean 'self launching motor glider'...sorry about that.

What's the difference?

Light Sport Glider requirements:

10hrs with 2 hrs dual
20 flights (t&g's, more like 75, but seriously)
0 thats right Zero cross country

Another great thing, I can't stall this plane ehh, *sorry* 'self launching motor glider' (repeat again for memory "self launching motor glider") unless I do it by gaining extra energy and quickly pull up..even then the stall lasts 1-2 seconds and self corrects.

80hp rotax 100kts max cruise is about 90 or so. Range 800nm.

BTW, CFI glider requirements are only 25 hours as PIC after SP Glider.

How about why can't you fly SP after failing a medical

but you can fly as a glider pilot and glider pilots can fly a motor glider.

There is a grey area here somewhere.

The Samba XXL(same company as Lambada) takes this one step further. It's shorter wing decrease the glide ratio of this motor glider to 18:1 (Lambada 26:1)

There are no other gliders (including the ancient swietzer 23) with a ratio that low. Yet there are no other 'regular' airplanes with a glide ratio that high including the Katana 14:1

Talk about grey area. :)
