Jim Bede Light-Sport Aircraft On The Way . . .

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Exosphere Aircraft Company Launches Diverse Dealer Network
SEATTLE, Sept. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Exosphere Aircraft Company, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EXSA) announces today the launch of its national dealer network. Exosphere Aircraft Company manufactures the BD-22 and BD-22S, two fresh designs by legendary aircraft designer Jim Bede. The dealer network will be comprised of a combination of current light-sport aircraft distributors, several existing dealers not presently offering light-sport aircraft, and service centers. The company is also in discussions with established dealer networks currently offering complimentary but non-aviation specific products to consumers. The criteria for potential dealers are currently and will be based on experience in the aviation industry, strategic geographic location, and innovative marketing that successfully reaches potential LSA pilots. Dealers interested in determining their eligibility for this network can contact Ron Henthorn at (206) 219-6854.

A broad and diverse dealer network is particularly important in the new LSA industry. Light-sport aircraft sales are expected to exceed all other airplane sales, spurred on by new FAA regulations for LSA's which make aviation accessible to a broad new market of potential pilots. Pilots can now legally obtain their sport pilot licenses with only 20 hours of instruction and are subject to less rigorous medical exams. Exosphere Aircraft Company is targeting the two most dynamic sectors of the LSA market: the entry level market with the standard edition BD-22 and the high end with the Limited Edition BD-22S design.

I'm a big fan of Jim Bede designs. If the BD-22 is an improved AA-1 Yankee.... The BD-22 will be one of the best LSA's on the market. :P

My goodness! About the time I got my private ticket and dinosaurs were roaming the earth Jim was selling BD-5s. That was a LONG time ago.

My hat is off to Jim for still being around, but I hope his current customers fair better than many unfortunate BD-5 depositors did way back then.

Well today there is a new press release. Maybe these guys are just trying to run up their stock price? Are they really going to bring an airplane to an already croweded market?

Exosphere Aircraft Company Poised to Benefit From Newly Released Statistics

SEATTLE, Sept. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Exosphere Aircraft Company, Inc., (Pink Sheets:EXSA) and the BD-22, designed by legendary aircraft designer Jim Bede, expect to benefit from new statistics revealing record sales and projected growth in the light-sport aircraft (LSA) market.

* At an average of $100,000 per aircraft, the National Consortium for
Aviation Mobility, NCAM, anticipates the light-sport aircraft
industry to grow to $2.5 billion over the next ten years in the
United States alone.
* The results from the FAA's Forecast Conference of 2007 include a
1,730 percent increase in the number of new sports pilots that will
be certified during the next 15 years.
* The light-sport aircraft industry's near-term growth exceeds that
of recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and watercraft combined.

This increased public interest in aviation, resulting from the newly simplified and inexpensive availability of LSA's, establishes light-sport aircraft as the fastest growing segment in aviation. Oshkosh AirVenture, the United States' largest fly-in, set record attendance levels this year estimated at 560,000 attendees, a 3.2 percent increase from 2006. Based on historic figures and reputation, it's expected that the BD-22 will be a top-seller and should be able to monetize a substantial portion of the LSA market. Exosphere is targeting the two most dynamic sectors of the market: the entry level market with the standard edition BD-22 and the high end with the Limited Edition BD-22S design.

hmmm - seems Exosphere has been announcing the same thing every couple of weeks, for almost six months:

http://biz.yahoo.com/pz/070424/117993.html

Man - talk about marketing. Reminds me of those spam emails we get pushing cheap stocks.

Ya know guys - there's a heck of a lot of news and publicity about new planes, but hardly any about sport pilots. If this keeps up there'll be more planes for sale than pilots to fly 'em.
