Richard L. Collins Gone West

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Richard L. Collins Gone West

Post by cam737 »

I just learned Richard L. Collins has passed. He was 84 when he died on April 29. Mr Collins was a great writer, and, a great safety advocate. As a kid, college kid, adult...I read his columns every month in Flying magazine. So much of his stuff is timeless. I just re-read "Singles are safer than Twins"...heresy at the time he wrote it.
Sad to see great ones go. (I felt the same way when Len Morgan passed)
His last article:

God Speed Richard Collins!

P.S. His last written words..."So, fly on, carefully."

I started my flight training with his Sporty's videos. What a great pilot and friend to Aviation. He will be missed.
