Sling 2 build / Midwest Sky Sports

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Sling 2 build / Midwest Sky Sports

Post by cam737 »

Hello. I am starting a new thread if anyone wants to follow the construction of my Sling 2. I am working with Midwest Sky Sports to build the aircraft from a kit. It will be 51% EAB. This will allow me to fly the Sling 2 at 1540 gross, and fly IFR.

Contract signed about March 1, 2018, with deposit. I'll try to keep it updated along the way.

That's a excellent facility you have to work in! I'm envious.

What will the other 49% of it be?

49 % E-PWKWTAD-AB

49% Experimental People-Who-Know-What-They-Are-Doing Amateur Built

I'm the 51% diving-in-without-a-clue!

Which is the perfect reason for doing a supervised/assisted build!

How does that work? Are you doing the build at their facility? Do you live near there?

The FAA does not require the builder to do 51% of the work. When using the builder assist program he will need to be there helping with the build and making the decisions on the build.

The airplane will be 100% experimental amateur built, but to achieve that status 51% of the airplane must be built for the purpose of entertainment or education.

Is there a manufacturer and airplane where you can go and stay about a month and build an airplane?
