Sling 2 build / Midwest Sky Sports

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

The numbers should match the stripes.

I had a friend who had his Cessna Cardinal painted. He spent hours designing an drawing up a more modern paint scheme. When he arrived to pick up the airplane it had big ugly black numbers painted on the side. When he ask the painter about it he said that is what's on your drawing. Anyway the black numbers really look out of place.

As long as there's sufficient contrast between the background color and the registration numbers, I think the numbers should be in one of the colors already being used.

It's hard to say it was the wrong color, because after all that was what was on the drawing. It just wasn't what the owner was expecting.

Airplane basically finished...currently nearly 2 months into the FAA registration process:

1) Applied for registration October 17, 2018.
2) October 24 Letter from FAA Legal Instruments Branch requesting a notarized Affidavit of Ownership...knocked it out in 24 hours.
3) November 8 Letter from FAA Legal Instruments Branch requesting a $5.00 check (the $5.00 check was mailed to them in October with the original application)...knocked it out within 24 hours.
4) November 20 Letter from FAA Legal Instruments Branch requesting the seller name be printed next to the seller signature IAW US DOT, INFORMATION TO AID IN THE REGISTRATION OF U.S. CIVIL AIRCRAFT, SIGNATURE REQUIREMENTS, PARAGRAPH 43, SUBPARAGRAPH 3, 43 B. Knocked it out in 10 minutes.
5) Called OK City today, Dec 6, 3:30C to get an update...FAA closes at 3:30C...of course.

I know I should not be surprised by the inefficiency of the bureaucracy machine. But, it just sucks.

DAR will not schedule aircraft inspection (for Airworthiness Certificate) until FAA Registration complete. Dead in the water...awaiting the next FAA request.

Looks simple. Just follow the instructions. Of course, that doesn't explain why they didn't find your check.

A search on www.faa.gov shows it is registered.
