Insurance renewal data point

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Can't complain!

Some have worried about the insurance rate ramification of converting from S-LSA to E-LSA. Recall my rate went down slightly, albeit because they would only insure the hull to a slightly lower amount.

My broker said that if you are E-LSA for maintenance reasons there is no change in premium or coverage. If the airplane gets modified then underwriters have to get involved.
