Jim

Did you fly with Brandon? I liked the Remos a lot. I think the 3 blade prop airplane is usually at KHKY and the other one with the 2 blade prop is usually at KMRN.

KHKY is a nice airport with a little restaurant and it's nice to fly over the Blue Ridge nearby especially in the Fall.

Still over in UK till next week. Yesterday it rained all day and was 59f what's up with that? Oh yeah...British summer!

Brandon told me he might have a corporate job out of KHKY so maybe he's off doing that.

Interesting. What do you feel is the biggest advantage of the 162?

no engine over-heating
SP -- was this an issue with this particular Remox GX? Or meant to be a more broad statement about Rotax?

I've flown maybe 2 dozen Rotax powered aircraft, and never experienced overheating. Not to say it never happens.

Thanks for the feedback. I've only flown a couple Rotax powered airplanes, but personally prefer the O-200 sound.

Engine overheating is not dirrectly a engine problem, but a airframe problem. I know of Continentals that have overheating problems too.

Users of nmsportaviation.com fly their two Remos GX in high-and-hot conditions all the time. While their GX would never overheat under normal circumstances, it's easy to get into the caution arc by flying with doors off. The additional drag and reduced speed make cooling conditions worse. However, to the best of my knowledge, nobody have yet succeeded to hit the red range (e.g. actual overheat). I would say, if someone manages to overheat GX down low, something is seriously wrong with the cooling system on it.

BTW, I once caused the yellow alert in GX by forgetting to open the oil radiator flap. You wouldn't believe I'm actually endorsed for Complex airplanes :-)

Jeez, I really hate these "delete..." edits. It's very annoying to be reading a topic and have a bunch of posts that you can't read, it totally disrupts the flow of the conversation. It feels like a phone that keeps cutting out during part of a call. And now it's being done with the first post in a topic, including the subject line. GAAAAAAH!!!

I respectfully request that folks leave their posts in place. If you don't want something to be read later, don't post it.
