Tips & Tricks for Operating and Maintaining a Sting LSA

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Tips & Tricks for Operating and Maintaining a Sting LSA

Post by drdehave »

Fellow LSAers:

Recently, after flying through the 1,700-hour-mark (1,450 by me) in my 2007 Sting Sport S-LSA, I decided to pause and memorialize some of the operational and maintenance knowledge I’ve gleaned along the way (i.e., from starting as a total “rookie” to flying, 4+ years ago, on my 65th birthday!). This list is mainly for my fellow Sting Sport and Sting owners, but many of the listed items pertain to LSAs (i.e., with the Rotax 900-series engines) in general, so some of the rest of you may pick up something as well.

While many of these items were previously discussed right here on the forum, I am taking this opportunity to place them all together in one place. As usual, I got too “windy” doing it, so the treatise couldn’t just be printed here; it is in the attached pdf.

I’ll gladly accept corrections, additions or other comments for future editions. So fire away if you find something!

That is very generous of you, thanks for the effort. Once I figure out "Dropbox" I'll take a look at it.

Rich -- I get redirected to my home directory on dropbox and can't find a reference to the document. Did you use 'send link'?

Yes, I think I see my DropBox mistake (gave you My link--instead of the Share link). I believe I corrected it in the original post--and here:
