Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Jim,

Enjoyed flying with you today. Chilly and bumpy but nice nonetheless.

Once you've tried it a few times it's really not hard to get in and out. There's a video on-line somewhere where Chris Falen, the Vans pilot who flew the demo plane to Sebring from OR, demonstrates getting out by just stepping out onto step.

http://flyrv12.com/aviation-consumer-reviews-the-rv-12/ (At about the 2.45min point)

The RV-12 SLSA here (same paint scheme as mine) N249VA was being delivered to the new owner in FL.

I'm fortunate in that KBNL ,Barnwell SC, about 40mins flying time, has 93 non-ethanol on the pump. I've been able to mix 100LL (with Decalin) with the 93 non-ethanol and the results are excellent. Pretty clean oil at time of change and clean plugs. I'm trying to keep the ratio 75-25 or 50-50 at worst. The 93 is $4.50 gal and my airfield's 100LL is $5.41 which is pretty good. I try to fly a route that takes me through KBNL if I can.

Glad you like the RV-12 SLSA. It's a good little airplane and I've really enjoyed having one for the past 4 months. As with anything, there are always some pros and cons and everyone has to weigh them up and compare to their personal 'mission'. There are several models of LSA that I would love to have but for now the RV-12 is the plane for me.

It was nice chatting about Light Sport in person instead of on-line.

May I ask how the distance between the panel and the bottom of the seat compares to the Evektor? Among the airplanes in this group that I personally examined, SportMax had the best headroom and knee room. Back when I was serious about this, RV-12 only existed as a kit, and was rare at that.

"Maybe, we can meet up with FastEddie, Mr Morden, and Flocker somewhere for lunch in early 2015. KFQD or KGMU would be 2 good places to go."

Perhaps one option could be the South Carolina Breakfast Club?

I'm planning to start going to some. It's every 2 weeks on Sundays. No dues or rules except to fly safe. Everyone's welcome and there's a small charge to cover breakfast.

Perhaps go to some of the one's closest to the GA border? Aiken, Barnwell etc ?

P.S. Should have added….on next year's schedule!
