It can be hard to pick which falsehood to refute.
Many of us went from mogas back to avgas when they mandated an additive. When / if 100LL goes away it will be replaced with ethanol free unleaded and we already have the STCs or will get them.

I didn't think the FAA would approve the ICON weight increase, so who knows what will happen with the medical.
As for buying an old 172 or what ever, it is a buyers market right now. I owned an old 172, great airplane. But I decided to sell it a couple of years ago. I can see where the FAA is heading as regards old airplanes. You see more and more AD's being issued that are age related, many of them expensive to comply with. Corrosion is one the main issues, and since the spike in fuel prices many aircraft have just sat in their tie down spot.
None of the manufacturers anticipated that their airplanes would be flying for +40 years.
